Puerto Rico

Hello Friends and Family,

Just got back from Puerto Rico!

Along with the NBA Cares Foundation, we joined with many of the retired NBA players now Legends and we fitted 150 kids in the San Juan area with new hearing aids!  We also gave each child a new basketball and it was fun to see them go up to all the NBA players and ask for their autographs.

These kids radiated with hope as they can now hear and to see their confidence and self-esteem improve is a very satisfying/rewarding thing to see.

I've attached my favorite photo of a young boy who beamed with his new hearing.   You can also click on the link below to see more pics.

Mexicali, Mexico!!!!

Hello Folks,

Just got back from Mexicali, Mexico where 750 kids were fitted with the Gift of Better Hearing!
One neat experience took place where this Grandpa got his first set of
hearing aids in 55 years. His  sweet wife, kids, and grandkids came to see their
Patriarch hear for his very first time. As I did some speech therapy with him,
he started forming these words in his mouth that he's never uttered  before.
His family started crying tears of joy and was overwhelmed with joy!
The Gift of Sound is something we all take for granted!
Let us cherish the beautiful sounds around us on a daily basis.

Osmonds / Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Hello Family and Friends,

I just landed in MN, but I needed to get this off my mind before I hit the sack tonight.

The last three days will be memories never to be forgotten!   Our family performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir/SLC Temple Orchestra.   The spirit was soooooo strong!   During each performance,  they got three separate standing ovations!   In the history of the Conference Center, this has never happened!    The First Presidency were having so much fun as they danced the night away!   It was an honor to meet each one of the 1st Presidency!  They are truly Men of God!

This morning,  I got to sit right next to President Monson as I interpreted in ASL right in front of the stage for my Uncle Tom.   I will never forget this moment.  It was the most majestic view ever!  Seeing my dad up on stage singing his heart out with the Motab!   I started to cry and it just kept coming non-stop!

Then after the third show Sunday Morning "Music and the Spoken Word,"  President Monson went up and gave a very special presentation to my dad and uncles.  The Prophet of God then mentioned to my dad, "I am your  spokesperson and advocate."  That truly sent a chill up my spine as I truly ponder those words.  Then he had them turn away from the audience and face the Mormon Tab Choir.   The Choir then sang 'Til we Meet Again.'   It was right here where I lost it!   I not only heard the Choir sing,  but I heard concourses of angels join the musical throng of the Mormon Tab Choir.   It will be an experience never to be forgotten.

I am so proud of my dad this night…

Heaven on Earth

Hello again…

This last weekend,  I went up Ephraim Canyon with my cousin Tommy and my uncle Tom.  What I saw and experienced was probably the most spectacular view my eyes have ever beheld on planet earth.  And it so happens to be right in my backyard up in the mtns.  The pictures don't even give the scenery justice,  but it's the best I can show ya…   Enjoy!

Merrill Osmond Family Fishing/4wheeling Trip

Hello~

I just got back from one of the funnest outdoor recreational activities I've ever been on.   I went exploring on my fourwheeler up into the mountains one day and I came across a beautiful lake that was absolutely breathtaking surrounded by pines, quakies, rivers, etc…    I went home and told my family that I had to take them up there.  So the next day we all got on our fourwheelers and we went up to the lake.  We literally caught a fish on every cast! ha ha!  It was fun to see my nieces reel in all the fish!   We then sat around the fire and roasted hot dogs while my dad told us stories from his recent World Music Tour.    It will be an experience never to be forgotten.

So the World May Hear Gala 2008

We had another great success this year at our 8th Annual 'So the World May Hear' Gala!  With Garth Brooks as our Headliner, he helped us raise over $5 Million dollars!

Along with the Gala, we had a Bass Fishing Tournament, Golf Challenge, Breakfast at Tiffany & Co., and a Skeet-shoot out!  Proceeds from these events also went towards the Starkey Hearing Foundation.  Needless to say,  it was a great event benefitting a great cause!

Thanks to all who volunteered and helped in such a great endeavor!

Mission Accomplished in Mexico!

4/3/08  Message posted on my blog

In just 7 days, I went to 5 different cities all over Mexico including Monterrey, San Luis, Victoria, Guadalajara and La Paz.  We provided around 5,000 hearing aids to about 2,500 patients.  It was a lot of work day-in and day-out with no breaks in between.  It was a lot of traveling, but thank goodness we had a private jet that provided the transportation from city to city.  It saved the hassel and time of having to go commercial.  But there's no greater feeling than feeling productive at the end of the day and knowing that these kids in Mexico can now hear.

Pictures will be posted soon!
